Our planning books have been developed following the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, EYFS reforms early adopter version July 2020 and Development Matters September 2020. Following these publications, the activities planned are
designed to help practitioners provide a balanced, broad and ambitious curriculum. Activities are thought out to ensure inclusivity where all children have access to the same curriculum, however, the level of adult support the children need during the activities will depend on their age and stage of development. The purpose of these activities are for the children to develop skills required to produce an end result - all outcomes should be a celebration of achievement - to explore ideas, to have fun and to ultimately encourage the children to become confident, independent and enthusiastic learners. It is worth noting that these activities must be planned alongside the children's freely-chosen play. Free play is a powerful way children address challenges and explore emotions and concepts within a safe environment. A careful balance of freely-chosen learning and guided learning is essential when designing an effective curriculum where all children will thrive and develop to their fullest potential.
