Planning activities for children is an essential part of running any childcare setting. Good planning results in children fulfilling their potential and reaching essential milestones at the right times. However, it is also incredibly time-consuming.

Every week, as childcare workers, we put hours upon hours into planning activities for the children, enabling them to learn effectively, but could those hours be better spent working on other tasks?

EYFS Planning is your new guide to streamlining the planning process, not only providing you with dozens of carefully planned activities that take into consideration all the characteristics of effective learning, but also providing you with a treasure trove of resources to support those plans.

Our EYFS planning books bring you a range of plans, activities and resources that are centred around different themes to support children's understanding of the world as well as giving learning opportunities to develop all the 7 areas of learning.

This booklet contains detailed activity plans, broken down week-by-week; a variety of photocopiable planning grids for you to fill out yourself; and lots of beautifully designed activity sheets and resources that can be used in support of the plans detailed within these pages.

That’s not all though. At Suffolk Childcare Agency, we have run childminders’ and nursery settings for many years from our base in Wickham Market, and have built up a contacts book full of useful services and trades that we know we can call upon to solve any problems we may come across. We’ve shared their details with you in the back of this book.

Before delving into the activities and plans within this guide, take time to familiarise yourself with the keywords page. Many of these words will be abbreviated throughout the guide, so it’s useful not only to know what they stand for, but also to understand why they are so vital to the planning process.

The weekly planning pages enables you to adapt our planning to meet the needs and interests of your children.

All the pages have been carefully designed to be photocopier-friendly, meaning you’ll only ever require one copy of this book to have all the planning and observational resources you’ll need.

We hope you find it useful to find out more about the many theme's of EYFS planning available to purchase.
